FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which silicon compound classes do you offer?

Silane coupling agents (amino, epoxy, vinyl, methacryloxy), siloxanes and silicone fluids, and specialty alkoxysilanes.

How do silane coupling agents work?

They bond inorganic surfaces to organic polymers through dual hydrolyzable and organofunctional reactivity, improving adhesion, wet-out and mechanical strength in composites, coatings and sealants.

What purity are your silanes?

Typically 95-98% GC purity with alcohol and chloride content specified; electronic grades with tighter limits are available on request.

How should moisture-sensitive silanes be stored?

Keep containers tightly sealed, cool and dry; part-used containers should be blanketed with dry nitrogen to prevent hydrolysis.

What packaging is standard?

25 kg pails, 200 kg drums and 1000 kg IBC totes, all with sealed liners.

Do you offer samples for adhesion testing?

Yes, 100 g-1 kg samples ship within a week so you can evaluate primer treatment, blend loading and storage stability in your own system.

What is the typical use level of a coupling agent?

Commonly 0.2-2 percent on filler or mineral surface, either as pre-treatment or integral addition; our technical team can recommend loading per system.

Can you blend or dilute silanes?

Custom formulations in approved solvents or as aqueous hydrolyzates can be supplied under confidentiality.

What is the shelf life?

Alkoxysilanes are typically warranted 12-24 months unopened; chloride-sensitive grades should be used sooner after opening.

Do you support custom silane synthesis?

Yes, from lab scale through commercial volumes for structures not in the catalogue.
